David Rothman helped build up the managed assets of an investment company in two years from $30 million to a whopping $150 million at the peak of the stock market.

Why David? Business and writing skills--and no forms to fill out"I'm pleased to recommend David to anyone interested in Web support for sales and marketing," says Peter Manchester, a former Mobil Oil executive who worked for Rothstein Investment Advisory Services as an SEC-registered investment advisor. "David did everything he could to synchronize the Web site, newsletter and mailing list with my own marketing efforts.

"His stock analysis was well written and made my job easier. David more than pulled his weight in helping us increase our assets under management. On top of that, he was sensitive to the need to comply with laws and regulations.

"Earlier I worked as an executive for Mobil Oil. If I had needed editorial services while there, I would have been delighted to use David. His writing has that Fortune 500 quality."

As managing editor for Rothstein, David used a wide range of skills to help the company woo new prospects and serve clients better. For instance, he set up personal Web pages for Peter Manchester and others. He also:

  • Originated the "Rothstein 25" and "Rothstein Candidates" concepts. Earlier Rothstein simply promoted "Baskets of Stocks" without associating the picks with the name of the company. Stronger branding, not just the rise of the Nasdaq, helped multiply the company's managed assets.

  • Gave the corporate newsletter the catchy name of Wealthcast to help tie in with the company's radio show. The newsletter sold for as much as $150 a year--more than many better-known ones. And paid circulation tripled with David involved.

  • Worked with a gifted designer to remake the graphics format and also improved the editorial format.

  • Remolded the Web site, so that it offered more news along with, of course, the Rothstein 25 List. David also made the site easier to navigate.

  • Wrote just about all the profiles of stocks on the Rothstein 25 and Rothstein Candidates lists. While the choices were strictly the company's, David did virtually all the research for these articles.

  • Crafted memorable radio spots for Rothstein's show on WRC, a local business station. For example, one spot compared known and unknown orchestras and challenged listeners to tell the difference. It then went on to suggest that a skilled investment advisor would be better able to understand the nuances of stocks. "The best radio commercial I ever heard," exulted Jack Rothstein on the air. It's just one example of the flair that David can bring to your company's marketing.

  • Recruited Renee Chaney, the well-known announcer from WGM, the classical radio station, to read the commercials. As a team player David worked closely with Renee, picking up her tweaks to optimize the commercials for her speaking style.

  • Edited emails of commentaries and stock market news.

  • Set up the mailing list and Web site for RealAudio, then got the company to use RealVideo. Certain well-to-do clients want to watch an investment advisor or broker reassure them. And other service-oriented business also can benefit from technology with a personal touch. David will set you up with the right technology, so that your clients more easily remember your face and a voice. Are you a broker with a large financial conglomerate? David can help make you less of a commodity to clients and more of a friend.
